Handmade English picture frames

Our new range of exquisite picture frames are made by a team of picture framers in the UK.
Original 18th-century, hand carved, box moulds are used to recreate authentic period designs. Plaster resin mix is used for the decoration, which is applied to primed wood moulding. The frames are then carved and pierced by hand before the colour finishes are achieved by a series of individual processes, with many layers of hand stippling. This is followed by gentle burnishing with an agate stone, finally being sealed with a delicate application of wax.
We are based in Malvern, Worcestershire and you would like more information about our picture framing services, please call 01684 577899 or get in touch through our contact page.
All the wood used in these frames is sourced from strictly monitored sustainable forests. A selection of these exquisite frames can be viewed below:

Came by an old family portrait in oils which had suffered at the hands of a person who didn't regard it as important. They even sold the frame! It was darkened with time and tobacco smoke. The painting is not of particular artistic merit, but it does have a good deal of sentimental value, so choosing someone to restore it was a rather fraught process. Whom to trust?Alan did a great job. It took him literally months to complete the work, but that didn't matter in the least, and in any case he told me in advance that it would take a while. He was very knowledgeable about the materials used and the best materials for him to use in the restoration, and the result is very pleasing.

It was a pleasure to meet Alan Brown. He took a lot of time and trouble to ensure my 2 paintings (brought back from India) would be protected as the canvases were not the usual quality. I was left in no doubt that my paintings were in safe hands. When I collected them I was delighted. The frames enhanced the paintings perfectly. I highly recommend his work. I will certainly be returning in the future.

I recently took a very dirty and dingy small painting (late 19th Century) to Alan for cleaning and restoration - he did a wonderful job. The painting has been brought back to life, as it were... it's as if light were shining out from it! I am very pleased with it indeed. I also asked Alan to frame it and he helped me to select a frame which I feel enhanced the painting very well. I would have no hesitation in recommending Alan's work, he really knows what he's doing.

Alan Brown has just restored a rather ancient and dilapidated frame for us, and we are totally delighted with his work. The craftsmanship seems to us quite exceptional. Restoration was also, believe it or not, cheaper than reframing – incredible since the work involved re-casting broken plaster detail, repainting, resetting the glass, cleaning the mount, and even ‘ageing’ the finished product. Overall an excellent piece of work - and good value!

I inherited an oil painting which my mother bought many years ago. It had not been well treated and was in need of some TLC. Alan has done an excellent job and brought the picture to life again. I now feel happy to hang the picture on my wall. Thank you , Alan.

Alan's restoration/stabilisation & framing of my 19th C landscape painting is impressive and the care and pride taken in his work was evident throughout. I am very pleased with the result. The work took no longer than indicated at the outset and a minor defect (which I would never have noticed) in the new frame was drawn to my attention with the offer of either a price reduction or a complete new frame. I do not hesitate to recommend 'The Original Artwork Store and Alan Brown's professional and technical approach to the task.
